At Shingalana Lion and Rhino Game Reserve you can get back to nature in the bushveld, experiencing both the intense excitement of the chase during the day and the luxury of relaxing outdoors at sunset with your favourite drink in your hand.  After sunset, with the lions roaring in the distance, you can enjoy the stars while sitting around a campfire.

This is a family-run and -owned business which has been operating since 1994 with Kobus and Rina Jacobs at the helm. The reserve is located in picturesque South Africa in the North West Province, which is a malaria-free area. It is situated 21 kilometres outside Hartbeesfontein, on the Ottosdal road and the nearest city is Klerksdorp, which is 50 kilometres away. (The very place names themselves remind one of a time when life was wilder, friendlier and slower.) The O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg is 2 hours away by car.

Shingalana offers luxury accommodation in two different lodges, a conference and wedding venue, as well as an authentic South African hunting safari. It is the perfect location for all of these functions. 

Safaris & Activities

We offer Safari Tours to the main tourist attractions in South Africa, such as the Kruger National Park, the Pilansberg National Park and Sun City. Prices for these tours are available upon request.

Or enjoy a Photographic Safari in our 4x4 vehicles and observe all the species that Shingalana offers. Booking in advance is essential.

We offer a large variety of game species (± 25 game species), which include, hippopotamus, sable (antelope), kudu (antelope), giraffe and many more. Shingalana is also home to three of Africa's Big 5. A game drive in an open game vehicle will give you the chance to see lion, rhino and buffalo.
